Acacia Claus!

The purpose of the "Acacia Claus Holiday Toy Drive" is to collect new, unwrapped toys to
present to organizations in the community, in order that they may provide a brighter holiday
season to families in need. Many children will go without gifts for the holidays each year, but Acacia Fraternity can help lessen that number.  As part of our Human Service Motto we hold this Toy Drive every year in order to benefit the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and the Salvation Army.

GAMMACACIA THON

Since pairing in 2007, the sisters of Gamma Phi Beta and the brothers of ACACIA have united in their efforts to raise money and provide support to Four Diamonds Families in their fight against pediatric cancer. Together, over the past five years, Gamma Phi Beta and ACACIA have donated over $712,000 to the Four Diamonds Fund, and this year THON raised a record-breaking total of $10.6 million dollars.

THON symbolizes mor that financial support for families with children fighting cancer. The emotional support provided for these children, their parents, and siblings is equally, if not more, important.  We are personally connected to three Four Diamonds Families: the Jazmine Cope Family, the Jed Smith Family, and the Breeanna Taylor Family.

On January 3, 2010, Jed Smith lost his battle with cancer after fighting courageously for eight years.  Jed had been a part of our Gamma Phi and Acacia family since our pairing; he is one of our biggest inspirations, and we are so grateful to have been a part of his life. Jed reminds us everyday why we THON.

Last fall, the Smiths introduced our organization to the Cope family, and we met 14-year-old Jazmine, whom was diagnosed with Leukemia and Myelofibrosis (AML). Again, we were fortunate to be paired with an amazing family, and provide love and support for the Copes. Jazmine unfortunately also lost her battle November 26, 2010 due to an infection she received from her cancer.

After suffering two devastating losses, we have grown closer not only as an organization, but also with our families. Jed and Jazmine remind us why this cause matters, and we will continue to make a difference in the lives of those who need our support and love.

We are excited to welcome the Breeanna Taylor family to our THON family this year! Breeanna is 17-years-old from York, PA, and loves to play soccer. She is strong, has great family support, and now has a new family full of over 200 students from Gamma Phi Beta and ACACIA.

Together we can make a difference in the life of a child
